On Saturday, March 20,
2004 the Museum of the Western Prairie opened a new permanent exhibit dedicated
to the history of the 577th Strategic Missile Squadron. The exhibit
consists of photos, documents and original items used at the Atlas F sites
surrounding the Altus area. The central focus of the exhibit is the
original Atlas F launch console from Site 9 at Hollis,
Oklahoma. The console is in excellent condition and may well be
the best preserved example in existence anywhere. The exhibit dedication
drew a large crowd and was very well received. The museum and the exhibit
are open to the public and both are well worth the visit. Below are
documents and photos of the dedication event as well as photos of the exhibit
itself in early stages of its design and setup. Documents
