Accidents
This page is where information concerning Atlas missile site accidents will be located. One accident occurred at Vandenberg AFB during the launch of an Atlas E missile. Four Atlas F sites were destroyed due to explosions caused by various problems. Three of the sites were assigned to Walker AFB in Roswell, New Mexico and one site was assigned to Altus AFB in Altus, Oklahoma. There were other accidents which resulted in missile damage, but in these cases the site itself was not destroyed.
